Nowadays most kits are recycled or re-packaged, and the sounds they contain usually only focus on the transient (the beginning of the sound) so it creates an illusion of “hitting hard”. However, the transient is only one part of the sound, the texture, weight, and depth of the sound are just as important.
The reason why so many tracks sound the same today is because everyone is literally using the same samples they found on splice or elsewhere.
